A MAJOR National Day of Action for Independence is taking place tomorrow (August 22), organised by the national independence campaign group Believe in Scotland.
Volunteer canvassers will be active in 125 locations around Scotland and many local Yes Groups were organising street stalls and litter picks on top of their leafleting efforts.
The National Day of Action will focus on Believe in Scotland’s campaign to demand Scotland’s right to choose and also to point out that the end of the UK is inevitable given that the Celtic Exit has begun, with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland now all governed by political parties with the goal of leaving the Union.

The National Day of Action is the first big national push for Believe in Scotland’s new “The Celtic Exit has Begun” leaflet, which has already been delivered on local campaign days in Prestwick, Stirling and Musselburgh.
As well as delivering 75,000 copies of the leaflet, Believe in Scotland campaigning has generated approximately five million views online in the last three months and used high-profile billboards in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
An online petition has gained 22,200 signatures demanding Scotland’s right to choose. The petition generates emails to the signatories to MPs, MSPs and the Prime Minister.
So far, Andy Burnham has received around 9000 emails demanding a referendum and Keir Starmer when he was in office received around 13,000.
Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp, founder of the Believe in Scotland campaign, said: “The key to this Day of Action is to be positive and approachable and to connect with people outside the core Yes movement.
“Too many independence supporters think that sharing their opinions with Yessers online will set us free but it’s only hard work and engaging the undecided that will do that.
“Others think that simply supporting a political party is enough but they are not yet doing enough to move Scotland towards independence at an acceptable pace.
“If we want independence, we are going to have to work for it. The thing about a political movement is that it dies without momentum and with hundreds of Believe in Scotland members and yes groups hitting the streets, Believe in Scotland is keeping the movement alive.
“We need everyone – individuals and politicians – to join us and to work for independence.

“Let’s make it count – let’s get out, be visible and make the case for independence as one movement”.

Believe in Scotland’s last National Day of Action saw hundreds of people out leafleting for their Stop the Scottish Energy Bill Rip Off campaign.
MacIntyre-Kemp added: “Along with Believe in Scotland’s major march and rally at Calton
Hill, this helped put independence and the unfairness of Scotland’s higher standing charges that are controlled from Westminster at the top of the agenda for the last Holyrood election.”
