House and Senate candidates have filed their latest round of quarterly fundraising reports with the Federal Election Commission, giving voters their last clear, comprehensive financial picture before the sprint to the Nov. 3 general election.
An OpenSecrets analysis of the filings – which cover the period ending June 30 and were due to the FEC before midnight July 16 – found some familiar names atop the lists of candidates who have raised the most money and sit on the biggest piles of cash.
Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) leads all Senate hopefuls with $77.3 million raised during the current cycle and $42.6 million in cash on hand. Ossoff – who won his first term in what at the time was the most expensive race in history – brought in $20 million during the second quarter. More than $16.8 million of that came after April 29, the end date of his pre-primary report.
Democrats make up the entirety of the top five in both fundraising and cash on hand among Senate candidates. Four appear in the top five of both – James Talarico (Texas), Roy Cooper (N.C.) and Sherrod Brown (Ohio), and each comes from a battleground state that the party views as central to its hopes of regaining control of the Senate.
Talarico – who raised $27 million in the first quarter – beat that total in the second, reporting nearly $28.3 million in receipts, bringing his total for the cycle to nearly $68.6 million. His cash on hand total more than doubled to $21.5 million, placing him third among all Senate candidates, behind Ossoff and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.).
Rep. Raja Krishamoorthi (D-Ill.), who lost his Illinois Senate primary race to Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton in March, ranked fifth after raising nearly $31.6 million.
Among House candidates, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) leads all fundraisers with $32.6 million – outpacing second-place David Trone (D). The former House member from Maryland trailed Ocasio-Cortez by more than $10 million, and while he raised $26.2 million, self-loans made up $25 million of that total.
The only Republican in the fundraising top five was Speaker Mike Johnson (La.), who raised $20.5 million – more than $5 million more than Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), who reported $15.3 million.
The list does not include Joshua Weil – a Florida teacher who lost an April 2025 special election for the House seat formerly held by Republican Rep. Michael Waltz, who left Congress to briefly serve as President Donald Trump’s national security adviser. Weil later mounted a monthlong bid for Senate before dropping out. FEC summary data classified him as a House candidate with $15.9 million raised through Sept. 30, 2025.
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) was fifth in fundraising but tops in cash on hand with $16.9 million banked, roughly a million more than Ocasio-Cortez. The Republican with the largest war chest was Rep. Elise Stefanik (N.Y.), who ranked fifth with $10.8 million in cash. Incumbents own each of the top five war chests.
