Disgraced minister Dr. Steven Lawson was mistakenly listed as a speaker at an upcoming pastors conference in November. His name has now been removed.
In September 2024, Trinity Bible Church indefinitely removed Lawson from all ministry activities after it was revealed he was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a woman who was not his wife.
When the relationship was exposed, the woman involved was in her late 20s. Lawson was 73.
Months later, Lawson publicly admitted to the extramarital relationship, saying he hates his sin.
“I have sinned grievously against the Lord, against my wife, my family, and against countless numbers of you by having a sinful relationship with a woman not my wife,” he said.
“I alone am responsible for my sin. I have confessed my sin to the Lord, to my wife, and my family, and have repented of it,” he continued. “I have spent the past months searching my heart to discover the roots of my sin and mortifying them by the grace of God. I hate my sin, weep over my sin, and have turned from it.”
In addition to serving as lead preacher at Trinity Bible Church, Lawson was also a professor of preaching and dean of Doctor of Ministry studies at The Master’s Seminary, as well as president and founder of OnePassion Ministries. He has since been removed from all three positions.
The conference Lawson was supposedly speaking at is hosted by Contending for the Faith and is themed “Be Ye Steadfast.”
According to the conference’s website, it is “a national event for pastors, ministry leaders, bible teachers, and serious students of the Word—built to promote church growth and to equip the next generation of expositors.”
