The Alexandria Port Authority has received the Malaysian Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and an accompanying delegation.
Talks focused on exploring joint cooperation in maritime transport, ports, trade and logistics.
The Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation with Malaysia and drawing mutual benefit from shared expertise in maritime transport and logistics, pointing to Malaysia’s role in international maritime trade given its strategic position on the Strait of Malacca.
The Authority presented the key features and capabilities of the Port of Alexandria, highlighting major development projects carried out in recent years, including upgrades to berths, terminals and logistics zones, alongside the modernisation of operational systems and services.
These improvements are said to have strengthened the port’s capabilities, competitiveness and its role as a hub for trade, transport and logistics.
Discussions also covered the need to strengthen direct communication between the Alexandria Port Authority and the Malaysian Port Authority, including establishing contact points between the two sides to help translate cooperation opportunities into concrete steps.

The Malaysian side expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Egypt and the Port of Alexandria across maritime transport, ports and logistics, along with support for trade, exports and imports between the two countries.
It also indicated a desire to work towards a memorandum of understanding outlining frameworks and areas for joint cooperation.
The Alexandria Port Authority said the visit represents a step towards expanding Egyptian-Malaysian cooperation in maritime transport and logistics, and towards further exchange of expertise and trade between the two countries.
