Trump claimed in a post on his own social media Truth Social that the USA has entered into a security agreement with Greenland and Denmark.

– I am pleased to announce that the USA has entered into an agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark and Greenland that gives the USA permanent control over security and all other needs in Greenland, writes Trump.
Denmark confirms talks
The office of the Danish Prime Minister has issued a press release stating that they expect to enter into an agreement with the USA within the next week.
– Greenland, Denmark, and the USA expect to be able to sign an agreement in the coming week that strengthens security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic area, it is stated in the press release.
It is expected that they will sign the agreement in connection with the UN General Assembly next week, write Danish authorities in the press release.
It is not known what the concrete content of such a possible agreement between the countries is.
Frederiksen: – Outlook for a good agreement
– I am glad that there is a prospect of a good agreement for Greenland, the Kingdom of Denmark, and the USA, says the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
She describes the agreement as "an agreement that strengthens our common security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic area and is therefore also good for NATO and Europe."
– And an agreement that simultaneously recognizes the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity and the Greenlandic people's right to self-determination, writes Frederiksen.
Greenland: – Recognizes Greenland's interests
Greenland's government leader Jens-Frederik Nielsen confirms that they "are in the process of entering into an agreement."
– It is pleasing that we are in the process of entering into an agreement that secures and strengthens the security for Greenland, the Kingdom of Denmark, the USA, and the Western alliance.
– The agreement recognizes Greenland's interests and our place in international cooperation. It is to the benefit of all of us, it is stated in the statement in the press release.
Greenland's Minister for Foreign Affairs Múte B. Egede has also commented on the matter on Facebook.
He says that an agreement between Greenland, Denmark, and the USA "is within reach."
