First released in late 2025, the AMR portal is a central hub connecting experimental phenotype and in silico genotype data for more than 170,000 bacterial samples.
The new release makes it easier to discover and explore data through new search functionality. Users can now search for specific sample and genome accessions, as well as gene names, antibiotic names, taxa, and locus IDs. The faceted search interface has also been improved, with the number of matching records now displayed for each available filter, making it easier for users to refine their searches.
Gene annotations can now be explored in a genome browser integrated into the portal. This view displays extended functional annotations and provides links to features in other resources, such as InterPro, when available. It also allows users to explore genes surrounding the AMR genes and view their annotations.
A subset of 37,907 genomes now have extended annotations available, including InterProScan, UniFIRE, which applies UniProt rules to automatically annotate protein sequences, and additional biosynthetic gene clusters annotations. These provide richer functional context for these entries. The number of genomes with extended annotations will increase in the future releases.
Based on user feedback, the information available for AMRFinderPlus annotations has been extended to include reference sequence accessions, the method used to infer the genotype or point mutation, and the quality of the match to the reference.
