FS Engineering to share digital rail expertise with Tanzanian Railways

TANZANIA: A memorandum of understanding for the development of sustainable infrastructure and transport systems has been signed by Tanzania Railways Corp and Italian companies FS Engineering and ITS Engineering.
The signing ceremony took place at the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport in Roma on August 5. Dario Lo Bosco, CEO of FS Engineering, signed the document alongside Tanzanian Railways General Manager Machibya Masanja Shiwa and Michele Titton, Sole Director of ITS Engineering. Italian Deputy Transport Minister Edoardo Rixi and Tanzanian Transport Minister Makame Mnyaa Mbarawa attended the ceremony.
Sharing digital railway expertise
The MoU establishes a framework to foster joint initiatives in the railway, logistics and infrastructure sectors. It promotes technical exchange in strategic areas, including sustainability, safety and technological innovation. To achieve this, FS Engineering will provide its multidisciplinary expertise through specialised consulting, feasibility studies, design and technical-strategic assessments.
In addition, the company will provide its specialised Digital Control Room platform. This utilises advanced technologies, drones and data analysis to monitor large-scale infrastructure projects and improve safety, decision-making and operational efficiency.
Dario Lo Bosco, CEO & General Manager of FS Engineering, said ‘with this agreement, we confirm FS Engineering’s commitment to making its experience in digital and smart design and the construction of complex infrastructure with advanced technologies available to international partners, contributing to the development of increasingly modern, sustainable and resilient mobility systems.’
The parties will now engage in operational discussions to identify priorities and joint project opportunities.
The initiative forms part of co-operation initiatives of the ‘Mattei Plan’, Italy’s strategic foreign policy initiative for Africa. This programme aims to support the development of transport and logistics infrastructure in partner countries, fostering economic growth and territorial integration.
