Allspring Global Investments today announced the appointment of Tomomi Shige as senior sales director and lead of the firm’s Tokyo office.
Reporting to Ludger Peters, head of strategic institutional relationships, international client group, Shige-san will act as the firm’s representative in Japan and work to expand Allspring’s distribution efforts with institutional and wholesale clients in the country.
Shige-san has nearly 30 years of industry experience, of which he spent 16 years in investment management and more recently 14 years in client-facing roles.
Allspring Global Investments praised his track record in building deep client partnerships in both the institutional and the wholesale market.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Shige-san has held senior roles at Wellington Management, Amundi and Nomura Asset Management.
“Shige-san’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to deepening client engagement and accelerating our expansion across the market,” Peters said. “His experience and deep expertise both in the institutional and wholesale space, are valuable as we continue to grow our presence in Japan.”

Allspring Global Investments has offices in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore, and has $624bn in assets under management and advisement.

BlackRock will act as the sub-manager for an Asia Pacific multi-asset fund launched under Standard Chartered’s VCC platform.
Alex Cheung is also hired as strategic adviser Hong Kong.
