The shopping center in Kryvyi Rih that was hit by a Russian drone attack on Friday belongs to a company called Arricano Real Estate, which is owned by Estonian investors.
Russian drones struck a crowded shopping center in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih on Friday afternoon, killing at least 14 people and injuring more than 100.
The shopping center, known in English as Sun Gallery, is owned by Cyprus-registered company Arricano Real Estate, whose owners are Estonian. Company owner Rauno Teder told ERR that it is still too early to assess the financial damage caused by the attack. He said nearly $60 million has been invested in the shopping center.
Arricano Real Estate owns several shopping centers in Ukraine, including in Kyiv.
In June last year, Ukraine imposed sanctions on Arricano Real Estate. The company's CEO, Margus Kurm, said at the time that the company had not been informed of the reasons for the sanctions and that allegations that Arricano had continued operating in occupied Crimea were untrue. Kurm said the sanctions, as well as the preceding criminal investigation and seizure of assets, were an attempt to unlawfully appropriate assets belonging to Estonian investors.
