1950s Woodill Brushfire
This Woodill Brushfire minicar was built by Dodge-Willys dealer B.R “Woody” Woodill of Downey, California, who produced the Wildfire roadster in the 1950s. The vehicle spent many years with two owners in Downey until it was purchased by the seller in 2025. The engine has been replaced with a Briggs & Stratton OHV single, which drives the rigid rear axle through a centrifugal clutch. Highlights include fiberglass bodywork, a tubular steel frame, 8” wheels, and red vinyl upholstery. This Brushfire is now offered in California at no reserve with a bill of sale.
The Brushfire minicar was modeled on the Wildfire roadster, which was produced from 1952 to 1958. The historical photo above shows their relative size. Both vehicles featured fiberglass bodywork mounted to tubular steel frames.
This Brushfire is finished in red and white, and details include a faux Continental kit, decorative headlights and taillights, chrome bumpers, and an air scoop on the trunk lid. The windshield is missing.
Painted 8” steel wheels are wrapped in older tires that show cracks in the sidewalls. The front beam axle is supported by coil springs, while the rear axle is rigidly mounted to the frame.
The cockpit has a bench seat trimmed in red vinyl, and the floor is constructed from plywood. A foot pedal operates the throttle, while a floor-mounted lever engages a single inboard-mounted disc brake on the rear axle.
The banjo-style steering wheel has a Lincoln center cap and sits ahead of an inoperative oil pressure gauge and ammeter. The vehicle does not have an odometer.
A Briggs & Stratton OHV single with a centrifugal clutch has been installed, and it sends power to the rear axle through a chain drive. The seller notes that the engine bogs down at low speeds.
A set of hubcaps will accompany the vehicle.
The vehicle does not have a VIN, is not legal for road use, and carries no title or registration. It is being sold on a bill of sale.
