Mayor of Limerick John Moran has confirmed he will cover the cost of the Sensory Unit at this year’s Limerick Show through the mayoral fund.
The €900 funding will ensure the annual event remains accessible and welcoming to all visitors.
The sensory unit will provide a calm and supportive space away from the noise and crowds of the show.
Mayor Moran said: “I am delighted to cover the cost of having the sensory unit at the Limerick Show once again through the mayoral fund.
“The Limerick Show is one of the county’s most important community events, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds, and it is important that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the day and participate fully in all [it] has to offer.”
The Mayor said he had seen the positive impact of the Sensory Unit at last year’s event.
“I saw first-hand last year the joy experienced by the children using the sensory unit and want once more to thank all those who provide this valuable service.”
The Limerick Show will take place on Sunday, August 23, at Limerick Racecourse.
