FIRE CREWS are battling a blaze at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh as locals report large smoke plumes billowing into the sky.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to The National that crews were called to Arthur’s Seat at 6.38pm on Sunday following reports of a blaze.
One resident who raised the alarm told The National they could “smell” the smoke from the fire from Inverleith Park.

Pictures shared with the paper show black clouds of smoke billowing into the sky above Holyrood Park.
It is currently unknown what has caused the blaze but it is understood that four fire appliances are at the scene.
Other images shared online appear to show grass and shrubbery at the foot of the hill alight.
The blaze also appears to be close to a residential street home to multiple blocks of flats.
In a statement on social media, SRFS wrote: "We are currently attending a fire in the open at Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh.
"Four fire appliances are at the scene. We were alerted at 6.38pm on Sunday, 19 July.
"There is no need to call Operations Control regarding this incident."
It is the second time in the space of three months that Arthur's Seat has been set ablaze.
In May, a fire started in an area of vegetation near the ruins of St Anthony’s Chapel in Holyrood Park.
