Rousteing succeeds Julien Dossena, who exited the brand after 13 years in June.
“Rabanne is delighted to welcome [Olivier Rousteing] as creative director of the house,” Rabanne shared on its Instagram. “His first collection will be presented in March 2027.”
Rabanne, which has been owned by beauty conglomerate Puig since 1987, is largely known for its perfumes, with fashion playing a smaller but important role.
Founded by Spanish designer Paco Rabanne in 1966, the business rebranded to simply Rabanne in 2023.
In November, Rousteing stepped away from the creative helm of Balmain, after 14 years in post. His successor was announced as French designer and Atlein founder Antonin Tron.

40-year-old French Rousteing landed the top creative post at Balmain in 2011 when he was just 25, making him the youngest non-founder to lead a Parisian luxury house since 1957 when Yves Saint Laurent took over from the late Christian Dior at the latter’s eponymous house.
Rousteing is also the first Black person to be appointed creative director at a French maison across all categories.
During his tenure, revenues at the house increased almost 900%, from €30.4m (£26.8m) in 2012, Rousteing’s first year in charge to €300m last year (£264m).
The announcement follows Rousteing’s return in May, when he created a custom gown for Beyoncé at the Met Gala.
