Gloria Sun moves from DBS to market head of offshore Taiwan, HSBC Private Bank.
HSBC has announced the appointment of Gloria Sun as market head of offshore Taiwan, HSBC Private Bank, effective 13 July 2026.
Based in Hong Kong, Sun will report to Kanas Chan, head of Private Bank, North Asia and Hong Kong. She will lead the offshore Taiwan teams in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Sun (pictured) has over two decades of leadership experience in private banking and wealth management across Greater China. She was most recently senior market head for Taiwan at DBS and previously held senior private banking roles at Deutsche Bank and the Bank of East Asia. Earlier in her career, she built strong expertise in client coverage, team leadership and market expansion across several global financial institutions.
This appointment further strengthens the Taiwan market coverage for HSBC Private Bank in addition to its recent hire of onshore Taiwan market head.
Commenting on the appointment, Chan: “We are doubling down on Taiwan and committed to growing our market share across Greater China. As an international bank, we are uniquely placed to support entrepreneurial clients and their families with their international needs.”
“With Gloria’s leadership and experience, we are confident she will take our offshore Taiwan Private Bank business to the next level while strengthening our holistic offerings across the region.”

The text reads as high-quality, fact-driven financial reporting, showing strong coherence and specific attribution markers consistent with human journalistic production.

Signals Detected
low severity: Varied sentence structure and natural flow of quoted speech; the density shifts appropriately between factual reporting and direct quotes.
low severity: The text maintains a clear focus on specific corporate news (appointments, fund comparisons) with necessary contextual details, lacking the overly generalized or emotionally balanced tone often associated with pure AI synthesis.
low severity: Specific attributions (e.g., Kanas Chan quote), specific dates (July 2026), and named entities provide strong anchors that resist generic template matching or vague attribution.
low severity: All claims are concrete professional appointments and verifiable context. No obvious LLM confabulation detected in the factual reporting.
Human Indicators
Presence of specific, tightly structured quotes attributed to named individuals (Chan) which demonstrates human source interaction.
The juxtaposition of financial news (energy funds, banking appointments) suggests typical wire reporting structure rather than pure generative output.
