Rural leaders to explore solutions to childcare, housing, and healthcare challenges
A specialist sees several challenges facing rural communities.
Leah Thiele is director of rural capital solutions with Compeer Financial and says she focuses on business and entrepreneurship.
“We’ve actually been doing a lot of research lately with our clients and with some of our partners, because there’s a long list of things that rural communities are struggling with. But over and over again what comes to the top is childcare followed closely by housing and healthcare.”
She tells Brownfield infrastructure needs are lacking in many rural communities.
“And that infrastructure, you can think about that as your classic energy and broadband. But also what sometimes is quite invisible infrastructure (like) the housing and childcare.”
Theile says potential solutions to some of these issues will be discussed next month during Compeer’s Rooted and Rising: Rural Forum in Owatonna, Minnesota.
