A team managing $1.6 billion in assets at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. jumped ship to join RBC Wealth Management in Dallas, according to an announcement on Monday.
The KPM Wealth Advisory Group is led by Donald H. Kinsey, Travis P. Moss and Matthew J. Pickett and includes support staff Shawn Ezzo, Stephanie Mareth and Jacob Gross. They report to Courtney Duphorne, complex director of RBC’s Texas North region.
The team touted RBC’s resources including “comprehensive credit and lending solutions” and a group of estate and lifestyle services, such as private airlines, college admission counseling and household staffing programs that are offered through outside vendors.
The advisors had joined Stifel in 2016 from Credit Suisse after the Swiss bank shuttered its U.S. wealth unit. They managed $800 million at the time and had only been with Credit Suisse for about a year since joining from J.P. Morgan Securities.
Kinsey first registered with Bear, Stearns & Co. in 1994 and worked at four other firms before joining JPMorgan from Smith Barney in 2009, according to BrokerCheck. He did not respond to a request for comment.
Moss started with Banc of America in 1998, moved to Smith Barney in 2007 and followed the same path to Credit Suisse as Kinsey. Pickett, a 43-year veteran, first registered with RBC predecessor Rauscher Pierce Refsnes and also joined J.P. Morgan from Smith Barney.
A Stifel spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
Last month, veteran recruiting executive Kristen Kimmell returned to RBC to be leader of its West Division after spending five years with independent broker-dealer Osaic Wealth.
Stifel for its part last month landed a two-broker team that had managed $357 million at Morgan Stanley.
10 year EFL is up??? All about the check
You should move and get paid, INSTEAD OF POCKET WATCHING!!! RBC IS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE STIFEL!!
If an advisor is able to take advantage of a benefit the industry has systemically embedded within itself, why disparage it? RBC is a great firm. It’s not like this team left to join Acme Financial.
You should move and get paid, INSTEAD OF POCKET WATCHING!!! RBC IS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE STIFEL!!
Taking a check, excellent tech upgrades, better firm reputation, modern firm structure, professional management, expanded offering platform… all huge and valuable wins for this team. Some firms forget how important a firms reputation is, its nearly impossible to grow and prospect when your firm has hot headlines for our clients to find. It harms us. The departure is understandable.
