CFI alumnus appointed to the Ministry of Justice

Our alumnus Harry Collins, who studied on the Master of Studies in AI Ethics and Society programme (2023 cohort), has been appointed to an advisory role at the Ministry of Justice.
Harry was recently appointed as an independent expert advisor on responsible AI to the UK Government Ministry of Justice’s ‘Preventative Analytics for Youth Justice Advisory Panel’ (PAYJAP).
PAYJAP is an expert advisory panel on the responsible use of machine learning and advanced analytics for aiding early intervention and prevention in youth justice. The panel suggests and reviews proposals for utilising machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics in youth justice, providing an additional layer of accountability and scrutiny, ensuring that any data science or algorithmic development is safe, appropriate, and well governed.
“The appointment relates directly to the knowledge and interests I developed throughout my MSt in AI Ethics and Society studies, and offers an opportunity to directly apply what I learnt and researched during the degree programme,” Harry commented. “I’m very grateful for the role CFI played in enabling me to pursue opportunities of this kind and to make a positive difference to society through AI ethics.”
