The National Center for Choreography–Akron has partnered with Memoirs of Blacks in Ballet to host the “Dancing Lab: MoBBallet Writing Workshop.” This residency will take place in Akron, Ohio, from July 13 to July 17. The workshop will bring together four writers selected via an open call to explore the role dance writing plays in the field's development and the needs of its practitioners. The programming was informed by data from previous Dancing Labs and the 2024 Dance Writers Convening organized by MoBBallet.

The collaboration between a choreography center and an advocacy group signals an intentional effort to examine the structural and theoretical underpinnings of dance writing within its ecosystem.
