AWS now supports automatic credit memo application preferences
AWS now lets customers who pay via electronic funds transfer set up how credit memos are automatically applied to their invoices, directly from the Billing and Cost Management console. Choose from options like applying to the original, next eligible, or oldest unpaid invoice. By default, credit memos go to the original invoice first, then future ones, unless changed. These preferences are available in all commercial AWS Regions. Start by visiting the Payment Preferences page in the AWS Billing and Cost Management console for more details.
Amazon RDS for MySQL supports MySQL 9.7 in Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment
Amazon RDS for MySQL now offers a sneak peek of community MySQL 9.7 in its preview sandbox, letting you try out the newest features and fixes before they go live. This preview lets you test apps and discover MySQL 9.7’s latest goodies. Remember, these preview instances last up to 60 days and vanish after that. They’re priced like regular RDS instances in the US East (Ohio) Region. For more details, check out the MySQL 9.7 release notes and the guide on working with the preview environment.
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore now delivers unified observability with traces and logs in a single log group
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore now centralizes agent telemetry and prompts into one CloudWatch log group, simplifying observability and debugging for AI agents. Previously, logs were scattered across different groups, complicating access control and encryption. Now, all logs for an agent are in a single, per-agent log group, enabling better correlation, fine-grained IAM policies, and CMK encryption. This feature is default for new agents from July 20, 2026, and requires enabling for existing agents.
Amazon EVS is now available in additional Regions
Amazon’s Elastic VMware Service (EVS) is now live in Seoul, Zurich, and Stockholm, offering more ways to use AWS’s flexibility for VMware workloads. You can quickly set up VMware Cloud Foundation in your Amazon VPC on EC2 bare-metal instances, reducing risks and meeting tight deadlines. This launch keeps all EVS features, including support for VCF 9.0 and 9.1, and offers lower latency, data residency compliance, and better redundancy. Start exploring on the Amazon EVS product page.
Claude Sonnet 5 is now available on Amazon Bedrock in AWS GovCloud (US)
AWS GovCloud now features Claude Sonnet 5 on Amazon Bedrock, blending top-tier coding, professional, and agentic prowess while juggling cost, speed, and capability. It excels in coding by managing big codebases and debugging, in agents by tool-calling precision and error recovery, and in knowledge work by crafting spreadsheets and transforming raw data into structured insights. Available on bedrock-runtime and bedrock-mantle endpoints, it’s part of Amazon Bedrock’s suite with features like Guardrails and Knowledge Bases, keeping data secure within AWS. For more details, check the Amazon Bedrock docs.
