CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard cross country ventures outside of Massachusetts for the first time during the 2026 season this weekend, as the Crimson will feature at the Indiana State Invite and the Dartmouth Invite on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Hosted at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana, the Indiana State Invitational begins at 8:30 a.m. with the women's 6k championship race, while the men's 8k championship race will follow at 9:05 a.m. The Dartmouth Invite, hosted at Dartmouth's cross country course, will start at 11:00 a.m. with the men's 8k race and concludes at 11:45 with the women's 6k race.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Harvard opened the 2026 cross country season on Friday, Sept. 4 with a strong showing at the Friar Invitational hosted at Highland Park, the site of the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships later this fall.
- In the men's 6k race, sophomore Brady Mullen opened his season with a stellar run, finishing in fifth place with a time of 18:15.8.
- Along with Mullen, first-year Baylor Miller enjoyed a strong collegiate debut, as the Goshen, Indiana native took 28th place after stopping the clock at 18:47.3.
- Over in the women's 4k race, first-year Aelo Curtis led the way by running a 15:06.9 to finish in 34th place.
- Two more Crimson women would also finish in the top 50 of the women's 4k race. First-year Abby Downin posted a 15:34.1 to take 47th place, while junior Abigail Sadler finished in 50th place with a time of 15:35.0.
- In the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Cross Country Coaches Poll, the men's team opened the season at No. 19, as Harvard is the highest ranked team in the Ivy League.
- Harvard will get its first look at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course this weekend, as the course will also serve as the site for this year's NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Harvard is back in action next month, as the Crimson will compete at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Oct. 9 and the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 10.
