The Armory Show, the traditional opening of New York’s fall art season, has announced initial details for its 2026 edition. Set to take place from September 24 to 27 at the Javits Center, the fair is taking place later in the season than previous editions. Led by Kyla McMillan, the fair will feature roughly 230 galleries from over 30 countries, as well as expanded “Presents” and “Solo” sections.
The curated “Platform” and “Focus” sections will feature artists living and working across the Caribbean, as well as first-generation North American artists whose practices are shaped by the Caribbean diaspora.
Participating New York galleries include Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, Miles McEnery Gallery, 303 Gallery, Albertz Benda, Peter Blum Gallery, NORR COHAN, Garth Greenan Gallery, Sean Kelly, Miles McEnery Gallery, Yossi Milo, Yancey Richardson Gallery, Hollis Taggart, Van de Weghe, Marc Straus Gallery and Dimin. They will be joined by galleries from across the United States, such as Vielmetter Los Angeles (Los Angeles), Berggruen Gallery (San Francisco), Fredric Snitzer Gallery (Miami), Locks Gallery (Philadelphia), Goya Contemporary Gallery (Baltimore), Secrist | Beach (Chicago), K Contemporary (Denver, Santa Fe), James Cope (Dallas), Nazarian / Curcio (Los Angeles), and Anat Ebgi (Los Angeles, New York).
International participants include Victoria Miro (London), Templon (Paris, Brussels, New York), Mennour (Paris), Ben Brown Fine Arts (London, Hong Kong, New York, Venice), Nara Roesler (New York, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro), Buchmann Galerie (Berlin), Alison Jacques (London), Lyndsey Ingram (London), Hales (London, New York), Archeus / Post-Modern (London), Southern Guild (New York, Cape Town), Everard Read (Johannesburg, Cape Town, London, Franschhoek), Johyun Gallery (Busan, Seoul), Nature Morte (New Delhi, Mumbai), and Galerie Forsblom (Helsinki).
Platform, curated by Jovanna Venegas, features large-scale sculptures and installations that examine technological forms emerging across the Caribbean, exploring ideas of reconstruction, resilience, and self-determination. Platform projects will include Bony Ramirez (regularnormal), Jesus Hilario Reyes (Company), Curtis Talwst Santiago (Uffner & Liu), Patricia Claro (Collectio), Lucia Hierro (Marc Straus Gallery), Rafael Domenech (193 Gallery), Zenobia Lee (Sea View), Margarita Cabrera (Jane Lombard Gallery), Maria Magdelena Campos-Pons (Barbara Thumm), and Hew Locke (Cristea Roberts Gallery). Continuing the fair’s commitment to non-profit engagement within Platform, the section will also feature a special presentation by Caribbean Artist Fellow Ania Freer (Artists in Residence in Everglades [AIRIE]), in celebration of the organization’s 25th anniversary.
Focus, curated by María Elena Ortiz, features solo and duo presentations exploring how the Caribbean has long served as a nexus for diverse communities and a foundation for contemporary artistic discourse. Artists featured in the section include Alba Triana (Casa Hoffmann), Ana Fernandez Mosseri and Mercedes Elena Gonzalez (Galería [SN] and Henrique Faria), Ernesto Rivera and Ricardo Cabret (mimo and Hidrante), and Gio Swaby and Kachelle Knowles (TERN Gallery). Complementing these are galleries from outside the region presenting artists whose practices engage with Caribbean histories and diasporas, including Sofía Del Mar Collins (Chozick Family Art Gallery), Renée Cox (Ethan Cohen Gallery), Simon Benjamin (PATRON), Lizania Cruz (ProxyCo), Yanira Collado (Mindy Solomon Gallery), and Elliot and Erick Jiménez (Spinello Projects).
Additionally, Solo, comprised of single artist presentations, has been expanded to include more than twenty participants, such as José Bechara (Albuquerque Contemporânea), Ayako Rokkaku (Baró Galeria), Katarina Riesing (Asya Geisberg Gallery), Henry Glavin (Halsey McKay Gallery), Firmino Saldanha (Galeria MaPa), Andrew Sendor and Madeleine Bialke (Newchild), Kristy Luck (parrasch heijnen), Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju (PSM), Paula Querido (Ronchini), Cathy Abraham (What If The World), Betsabeé Romero (Gallery Yam).
Presents, the fair’s presentation of young artists and galleries, has additionally expanded to around 55 participants.
“The Armory Show has always reflected New York’s openness: to artists, galleries and ideas from across the Americas and the wider world,” McMillan stated in a release. “This year, that comes through in the breadth of the gallery list, the expansion of Presents and Solo, and the work of our curators, whose sections trace histories of movement, exchange and cultural connection through the Caribbean. Rooted in New York, the fair brings together ambitious presentations that define the conversations of the year ahead, remaining in constant dialogue with the geographies and communities shaping contemporary art today.”
