"Through the banking sector, we are offering financing at lower interest rates and with longer loan tenors," Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said during the launch of the initiative in Bekasi District, West Java, on Thursday.
Roeslani, who also serves as Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, said the government is considering reducing or even eliminating the current 10-percent down payment requirement to stimulate public demand for electric motorcycles.
"This will give us the capability to accelerate the production of national electric motorcycles in Indonesia," he said.
Highlighting the sector's economic potential, Roeslani estimated Indonesia's electric motorcycle market at US$170 billion. He noted that around 10 domestic companies have already met the local content requirements (TKDN) set by the Ministry of Industry.
To further strengthen the sector, he highlighted the involvement of state-owned defense and technology company PT Len Industri to ensure that locally manufactured electric vehicles meet international safety and performance standards.
"We hope this national product will gain regional and eventually global recognition," Roeslani added.
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Molinas project and its supporting ecosystem at the PT Ilectra Motor Group (ALVA) facility in Cikarang, Bekasi District, West Java.
In his remarks, Subianto praised private-sector companies willing to take on the financial risks of manufacturing electric motorcycles domestically amid intense competition from established East Asian brands.
The President said the initiative is part of a broader collective effort to build the nation, a synergy he frequently refers to as "Indonesia Incorporated."
He emphasized that accelerating domestic electric vehicle manufacturing serves the national interest, particularly by reducing Indonesia's dependence on imported fossil fuels.
