CrimeLocal News Man killed in police-involved shooting identified by Barbados Today 18/07/2026 written by Barbados Today 18/07/2026 1 min read A+A- Reset FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 1.2K Edgrick Livingston Yearwood, 36, of Maxwell, Christ Church, has been identified as the man who died following a police-involved shooting on Friday evening along Fairchild Street at its junction with Bay Street. Yearwood had reportedly been arrested in connection with an alleged assault on a female. After being identified by the complainant, he was being transported in a police vehicle when he allegedly attempted to disarm an officer by grabbing the officer’s firearm. During the ensuing struggle, the police officer was shot. Yearwood also sustained gunshot injuries and died at the scene. The injured officer was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and later discharged. Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have any information that may assist to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1800-8477, Police Emergency at 211 or the Criminal Investigations Department at 430-7189. The Barbados Police Service said all information received will be strictly confidential.
