Until now, Never Fully Dressed has been owned in full by founder Lucy Aylen, who launched the label from her parents’ attic in 2009.
Refined Capital Partners also owns stakes in fashion brands The Fold, Frugi, Disturbia, Celtic & Co, and recycled cashmere accessories business Turtle Doves.
In a statement shared with Drapers, the premium womenswear business described the move as an “exciting milestone”, writing: “The things that matter most to us aren’t changing.”
“We’re still the same female-founded brand, led by the same leadership team, designing every print in-house with the same passion, creativity and attention to detail,” it read. “We’ll continue creating versatile, feel-good pieces that empower everybody to feel their best, while nurturing the inclusive, supportive community that’s always been at the heart of who we are.”
The brand – which has stores in Essex and New York and sells via wholesale partners including John Lewis, Frasers and Harvey Nichols as well as its own website – said that the partnership with its first-ever external stakeholder will allow it “to invest in the future of Never Fully Dressed and our continued commitment to do better for our people and planet”.
