An average increase of 1.26 cents per day would mean a new high by the election.
Gasoline Price Trends
- The Gas Buddy national average is 55.4 cents from the June 14, 2022 record price of $5.027 per gallon.
- The AAA national average gas price is $4.4761 today vs an all time high of $5.0165 also on June 14, 2020. AAA is 54.05 cents from a record high.
Diesel National Price
Diesel Price Trends
- The Gas Buddy national diesel average is $6.471 per gallon.
- The AAA national average diesel price $6.5050 per gallon.
Both AAA and Gas Buddy are recording new record diesel prices every day.
Will Regular Gasoline Hit New High Before the Election?
It seems likely. The election is in 44 days.
An increase of 55.4 cents would do it for AAA and Gas Buddy. An average increase of 1.26 cents per day would do it for each.
Refineries are under attack by Iran, the Strait of Hormuz remains mostly shut, and insurance prices are going through the roof.

Forget diesel, what’s the price of lube cuz farmers are about to get shafted hard with refineries blowing up everywhere. We may need Farm Aid for Lube concerts soon enough. Paging Willie Nelson, paging Willie Nelson.
Where’s farmer Frosty and his little paradise, we need the clutch coffee report ASAP. October harvest right around the calendar corner!

Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei has laid out Tehran’s latest set of conditions to end its war with the United States.
In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera on Saturday, Rezaei said that Tehran has conveyed its conditions to the US via Qatari mediators, but added that Tehran was more battle-hardened now than in the first 40 days of the war, which began in late February following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
He said the demands include:
“It is in Washington’s interest to accept these conditions. Trump’s threats will not achieve any results. We are prepared for a decisive war,” said the security chief.
Very interesting graphs! In August and September, the typical trend is for an increase in diesel prices and a decrease in gasoline prices for a variety of reasons like rising versus falling demand. For diesel, the effects of the ME war are thus additive to an expected normal increase, giving the recent large increases. For gasoline, it looks like the historical trends opposed the ME war effects for a while, with the price per gallon of gas stuck around the $4 mark for a month or so due to the counterbalancing forces. I think though we have broken through that period for various reasons, like the ever-diminishing releases from the SPR. My expectation is we will hit $5 substantially before the election.
When Republican Congressmen look at this chart, they probably get tears in their eyes when they think what could have been if Trump had not attacked Iran and the price of gas had remained in the $3.50 range. Getting fired sucks, even if it is because you sucked at your job.
The only Republican congressman who deserves to be reelected is Thomas Massie.
Of course, he won’t be because —-even though Epstein wasn’t working for Mossad —— the AIPAC lobby spent $100 million to defeat him.
More than a few Republican Congressmen wearing the pin of “Our Greatest Ally”. F’em.
It’s been common practice to never waste a good crisis in politics.
Mother of all crisis gets you the mother of all power grabs
Power grabs — like 100 million Americans grabbing a different voting lever, because they are disgusted with prices, their way of life disrupted, plainly caused by the mother of all self-induced crises?
A practice that Trump himself mastered for his own power grab and illicit enrichment of his family.
Pressure will remain on gas and diesel for the foreseeable future. Combine that with tariffs and rising interest rates, and American businesses and consumers are getting hammered. (one example: US businesses are paying $5000 for aluminum because of tariffs while all their competitors globally pay $3000)
It’s hard to see a quick recovery in Russian and Persian Gulf refiners. China may provide some relief if they remove all restraints on their teapot refineries. But not enough to prevent higher prices for gas and diesel.
Poop hitting the fan just had a barnyard full tossed at it:
“The biggest refinery in Moscow is gone, destroyed. You know what other impact this will have? It will destroy sulfur. Sulfur is needed to make phosphates. Phosphates are used to grow food. A good shortage is coming.”
Sulfur is the #2 most used Industrial chemical (after oil is #1). Another consequential hit.
Sulphur is also used to refine copper. 50% used to travel through the strait of Hormuz. These losses are cumulative.

Trump seems to be preparing our military and Bibi same with Israel to do a major offensive. Would be another major strategic screwup I believe. Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, and potentially other ME “monarchies” with fall as the ME tribes arise. Biden and Trump set the table for this by not restraining the Israelis in Gaza, the West Bank, and now South Lebanon. Now 500,000,000 people living in and around the Middle East are hopping mad at Israel and the US and support the resistance led by Iran. This is like Afghanistan on steroids. We all better start getting our things in order to withstand potentially a hellish economic depression. If Trump and Bibi do what I suspect they are going to do no hydrocarbon products will come out of the Middle East anytime soon, a lotta years…
well, generating a global crash is in the string-puller’s plans and it is simply being implemented step by step. The misery this will create around the globe with massive economic fallout, hunger and widespread illnesses – no WHO/Bill Gates plandemics necessary- will accellerate the global depopulation program more than any medical achievements such as vaccinations. Add in a couple of wars here and there according to the usual business practice. Europe will clearly suffer more than the US – corrupted / blackmailed heads of state in all-out war mode against Russia. Where Napoleon and Hitler failed, von der Leyen and co. are sure to have their teeth knocked in in a couple of days at the most. Thank the City of London and their representations in DC, Tel Aviv and Rome for all of this. At least we have identified the root cause.
Daily price increases for the next 50 days will be equivalent of a drip drip drip of water torture for the Trumpist candidates. Maybe even Mikey Johnson will squeal a bit.
That keeps the pickup trucks in the garages, but what about the weekend department store Santa Clauses with their Harleys?
That transporation cost aspect is the insideous negative feedback loop of inflation. Increasing odds of higher yields and rate hikes.
Just counting the days until cheap gas, a wide open border, and rising crime.
Believe you’ll find next Dem leadership takes a more reasonable stance on immigration. Your crime slime is just red-bating rhetoric. YOU currentlly have undoubtedly the worst, and most stupid AND crooked President in US history. Good luck on waiting for someone worse!!
I mean all you have to do to fix immigration is offer a real path to citizenship (through public works/service that we desperately need perhaps) and it evens out. The problem is that big farms do not want that because then they couldn’t pay Paco two cents an hour to pick fruit in the flaming hot sun. The GOP/red states love illegals more than anyone, but they need to be able to exploit them.
Andy Beshear could get elected and be like a folksy-style of Tim Walz.
The media will relentlessly tell us he’s moderate like Bill Clinton while his administration outdoes Birdbrain Joe Biden as far as open border and welfare state.
Biden forgave about $180 billion in student loans. The next Democrat admin will forgive 3 times as much, even after adjusting for inflation.
They’ll bring in someone more open border than Mayorkas.
Wipe away that boo boo face, billy boy, its The Golden Age!
These terms do seemingly make useful bumper sticker taglines for the GOP,

Energy is at or few cents away from a record high. But you should feel safer because Iran is still armed, still has their nuclear materials, and the regime is still in charge. The answer: send Congress home and build a 250 foot sniper nest in Washington, DC. The last time DC was invaded was the War or 1812. Maybe they are expecting someone else?
Show me on the doll where the Iranians touched you. Had we and the British not been assholes since at least 1953,we could have an entirely different relationship with Iran today.
It wasn’t as simple as folks might like it. There were Cold War dynamics very much in play in ’53. I’m not saying we were the wisest stewards, but it was an existential matter. We were still propping up postwar Britain’s admittedly extracting deals there. Various nations were attempting to set up non-alignment, understandably, But sometimes one goes for the seemingly imperfect workable governance. I will admit things went more sour over time as the Shah became crazier and more vicious and militarily grandiose, and the US stood by, right through Carter’s supposedly moralistic “human rights” foreign policy. But Khomeini pretended to be much more liberal than he immediately turned out to be: He broke many assurances, in a very brutal totalitarian fashion. It’s not like he and his fellows were ever willing to embrace the best of governance, as the west sees it. So I’m not completely contradicting you, just adding some surrounding considerations.
Odd the press never reports those facts. HMM!!
This is economics and politics of war. Pay at the pump / replace missiles OR pay with lives through a draft. I’d rather pay for fuel and missiles than with my nephew’s life.
False binary
There hasn’t been a draft since ‘Nam dude, put the pipe down.
Erm… why the hell do you think that those two are mutually exclusive? You could end up getting shafted both ways!
The U.S. is in a demographic death spiral, sending young men off to die will exacerbate and accelerate the problem. I think this is the core problem no one talks about with “boots on the ground” and part of the issue Russia has as well with its military “empire;” why send bodies for drone fodder anyway?
This is not something you do when everything is fine…

The Army’s decision announced this week to move the cap to 42 marks a return to a policy last seen in 2006 during the height of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This adjustment reflects a strategic move to diversify the talent pool and leverage the expertise of more seasoned professionals, officials said.
“diversify the talent pool” is code for we don’t have enough bodies to sacrifice.
Hopefully, taco’s many ill-fated policies will be reflected in mid-term elections. Only the billionaires are likely to support this maniac who is making many American’s lives as miserable as he is.

“The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”
― Winston S. Churchill
He went bankrupt almost as many times as…
Thomas Jefferson was awful with money too, and you like him, right?
Churchill made mistakes, but he was great. Yes, there was the Gallipoli disaster, and Exchequer policy in the 1920s.
But he surely could turn a phrase. There is his matching one:
” ,,, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…”
I agree. Much like Bush #1 and his no new taxes. Trump and his Republican accomplices only understand power. I voted for Trump expecting something better and he’s done pretty much the opposite. I do agree with him tossing out illegal criminals that have robbed, raped, killed. The latter should be executed, but that’s how our country works.
I’m voting mostly Democrat as a protest vote. Let Trump and his idiot followers wallow in the liberal pain. I don’t see too many people capable of leading the country out of our numerous problems. We have to get rid of this two party system. It’s just a Uniparty. Also, need to get AIPAC out of our politics too. They have taken over our country.
You’re forgetting AIPAC which is most active.

Executive Summary
Full Take
The narrative functions by establishing an immediate, tangible economic threat—rising fuel costs—and immediately linking it to macro-level geopolitical instability (the Iran conflict, the Strait of Hormuz). The structure then pivots into a political commentary where energy prices are positioned as a mechanism for systemic power grabs and economic distress that favors specific political outcomes. The core implication is that energy market volatility is not merely an economic phenomenon but a direct consequence of geopolitical conflict, which in turn fuels domestic political polarization.
The pattern observed is the use of material economic metrics (gas/diesel) as a foundation to introduce highly charged, politically motivated assertions about government failures and desired societal outcomes. The link between rising prices and the assertion that this reflects Trump’s policies or broader global maneuvers acts as a form of emotional exploitation. This is a deliberate maneuver where complex geopolitical realities are distilled into simple cause-and-effect chains aimed at generating anger and creating a sense of urgency for political realignment, rather than purely objective analysis of energy futures. The framing repeatedly suggests that current economic suffering is the result of intentional actions taken by powerful actors, thereby directing public frustration toward specific political targets.
What assumptions are unstated? The text assumes that economic fluctuations serve a singular, politically deterministic purpose, and it assumes a readership susceptible to viewing market data through a specific ideological lens. Who benefits? Those who can successfully frame instability as political culpability. What does this mean for agency? It suggests a struggle where material reality is intentionally obscured or reframed by narrative forces designed to channel public energy away from structural issues toward immediate, emotionally resonant conflict.
