A final-year student from the Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment was selected to present research at the 11th Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation and Protected Areas in Nouméa, New Caledonia, from September 7–11. The presenter, Naiyas Neson, is a Bachelor of Sustainable Fisheries and Marine Resources student. Neson will present research titled "Assessing the Growth Performance of Nile Tilapia Fingerlings Fed with a Formulated Peanut-Based Feed Compared to Commercial Feed." For this study, Neson developed his own low-cost, peanut-based feed to evaluate its performance against commercially available alternatives for fish fry.
