This summer, we are refreshing the entire lineup of our 3D printers. The new Prusa XL+, CORE One+ (Gen 2), and CORE One L+ bring cleaner print starts, better-looking surfaces, easier operation, and improvements based on feedback from users and the community.
Prusa printers keep getting better over time!
If there’s one thing worth knowing about how we develop our printers, it’s this: we don’t expect you to replace a working machine just because we’ve come up with something new. Most tech becomes obsolete over time. Our printers keep getting better. 🙂
A huge part of it happens through updates. Firmware brings new features, print profiles get fine-tuned, PrusaSlicer keeps evolving – and your printer gets all of it and learns new tricks, no matter whether it arrived last month or years ago. Our ecosystem keeps moving forward, and it takes your machine along with it. And when it takes new hardware? It’s upgrade time! Get your screwdriver out and give your trusty machine a brand-new set of abilities at an affordable price. An older open-frame printer can get new electronics, then a new extruder, and eventually even a full conversion into a fully enclosed CORE One+. It’s like when you upgrade your PC with new components.
That’s exactly what’s happening now, too. The 2026 refreshed lineup, the CORE One+ (Gen2), CORE One L+ and XL+, all have available upgrade paths for all current owners.
This is exactly why the same Prusa can sit on a NASA engineer’s desk, end up under a Christmas tree as someone’s first technical project, run daily in a busy university lab, and print parts that go to orbit or into critical infrastructure. They don’t age like most tech, and the entire lineup shares the same platform – technology, software, PrusaSlicer, and long-term support. So everything you learn on one Prusa carries over to any other.
We like to say a Prusa is an investment, and this is a great example of why it works. You buy the hardware once, and whenever there’s an upgrade, you get the option to take it.
Better User Experience, Even Better Prints
So, let’s get to the actual upgrades. With this refresh, we focused on the everyday experience and also found ways to push the print quality even that one bit further.
Of course, not every improvement needs to transform what a printer can do. Often, it’s the little things that remove various annoyances or delays – and this is what the other part of improvements focuses on. We’re talking mainly about faster pre-print preparations, cleaner results, fewer calibrations and tuning. In general, the goal is to spend less time waiting and more time printing and enjoying the finished models.
Throughout the development, we went through a lot of community feedback – to give you a quick example, one of the most frequent requests was a nozzle wiper, which is now available on all three machines. We deliberately chose a standard, widely available nozzle wiper. Since it is a consumable part that will eventually wear out, replacements should be easy to find. You will be able to get one from us, your local 3D printing store, or wherever is most convenient.
Bringing the Prusa XL up to our latest generation
We’re upgrading the XL to XL+, and it’s a pretty substantial improvement. The XL remains the largest, most capable toolchanger on the market with its massive 360×360×360mm build volume – it’s 3× the size of the CORE One+ and 1.5× the CORE One L+. And it still fits on a workbench and plugs into a standard socket. It’s built for huge prints and for projects that combine multiple materials or nozzle sizes. We focused on bringing its print quality and everyday experience on par with our latest generation of printers.
The biggest practical improvement is the new 360-degree cooling system, matching the awesome cooling of the MK4S and CORE One series. The new cooling delivers more airflow overall and distributes it more evenly around the nozzle, improving overhangs, bridges, and small details, particularly on demanding models.
Another major improvement comes directly from the INDX: the new Tool Offset Sensor checks and precisely aligns every toolhead during the initial setup, which is especially important for multi-color prints and layer-based color mixing. The previous automatic calibration used a removable pin and took long minutes. The new permanently mounted eddy-current sensor is about 20 times faster! It is also compatible with the upcoming Silicone toolhead, which is currently scheduled for release this Fall.
The new GT1.5 belts also bring a visible improvement. They help make unwanted fine repeating patterns less noticeable, which is especially useful on the large, smooth surfaces the XL is often used to print.
High-flow nozzles are now included as standard, giving the printer more headroom when a print calls for higher material flow. The integrated nozzle wiper cleans off filament before the print begins, helping prevent loose strands or small blobs from being carried onto the print surface.
The XL+ itself is ready for chamber temperatures up to 60 °C. Our new enclosure is better sealed and can reach around 50 °C using the heat already generated by the printer. Add the upcoming chamber heater, and it can go all the way to 60 °C.
A warmer, more stable environment is a big help with large PC Blend and PCCF parts, and even big, boxy PETG prints, where it helps the part stay closer to the intended shape and dimensions. We don’t have a shipping date for the heater yet, but we wanted to show you what’s coming.
With the new improvements, the XL+ gets even better at the things that make it special: massive print volume, a super-fast toolchanger, and all of it still fits on a workbench and plugs into a standard socket.
What’s new for the CORE One series
The CORE One+ (Gen 2) and CORE One L+ share the same core idea: enclosed printers that offer a lot of printing space without taking over the room. One is the compact all-rounder, while the other gives you more room for large parts and bigger batches.
Because the CORE One L was developed more recently, it already includes several ideas that are now making their way back to the smaller model. The two refreshes are therefore slightly different, but they bring the everyday experience even closer together.
Prusa CORE One L+
The CORE One L is our larger enclosed printer, with a 300 × 300 × 330 mm build volume, an actively controlled chamber, and a large all-aluminum AC heatbed.
With the CORE One L+, we are also adding the new GT1.5 belts and integrated nozzle wiper that is shared across the refreshed lineup.
Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2)
The CORE One+ (Gen 2) receives the broadest set of changes in the CORE family. It gains the same nozzle wiper and GT1.5 belts as the XL+ and CORE One L+, giving each print a cleaner start and making fine patterns on smooth surfaces harder to notice.
One of the most noticeable improvements is how quickly it now gets to printing the first layer. This comes in handy when you want to check that a print has started properly before leaving the office or heading out for the day.
We redesigned the heatbed mounting so it can warm up and stay flat without the extra wait. For PLA, PETG, and any material printed with a bed temperature of 85 °C or lower, the “Absorbing heat” step is gone. Higher-temperature materials start sooner as well.
The printer also receives the snap-on top panel introduced with the CORE One L. It can be removed in seconds without tools, making cleaning and maintenance easier. The automatic top-vent mechanism underneath is also more robust.
Individually, these are relatively small changes. Together, they mean faster starts, smoother surfaces, easier maintenance, and less attention needed every time you print.
Availability, rollout, and upgrades for existing owners
The refreshed lineup is on sale right away: the CORE One L+, CORE One+ (Gen 2), XL+, also including the CORE One+ kit and all XL+ toolhead configurations. Even with the new (and additional) hardware, we’re keeping the same price for all machines.
The first assembled CORE One+ (Gen 2) and CORE One L+ printers start shipping immediately, with assembled XL+ printers following later in August. Kits, upgrades, and individual parts will roll out over the following weeks as we ramp up production and finish the corresponding upgrade manuals.
If you already have an open order for a CORE One+, CORE One L, or XL that has not shipped yet, we will automatically upgrade it to the corresponding new version, regardless of when the order was placed. There is nothing you need to do.
Complete upgrade kits are coming, and the new components will also be available individually in our store. There are quite a few printer and upgrade combinations to cover, so we are starting with assembled machines and CORE One+ upgrades, followed by CORE One L+ and XL+ upgrades around the end of August and beginning of September.
And of course, hardware upgrades are only part of the story. Existing XL, CORE One L, and CORE One printers will continue receiving firmware updates, PrusaSlicer improvements, print profiles, documentation, spare parts, and support.
What’s next?
The changes in this refresh mark the start of a broader push to improve the user experience across everything we make. We are looking at the whole process, from preparing a file and starting a print to managing and maintaining the printer, not just adding headline features.
A lot of this work comes directly from feedback. Many of you know Tommy, our community manager, who has spent a great deal of time talking with users and bringing their comments back to the team.
Stefan from CNC Kitchen also took the time to prepare a detailed summary of his experience and suggestions. We went through it carefully and took it to heart. And then there are companies, universities, public institutions, government organizations, and critical infrastructure operators, all providing valuable feedback based on their everyday experience.
We’ve already implemented many improvements in the previous firmware updates, the refreshed printers are the next visible result.

INDX for the CORE One+ is almost here
INDX brings automatic tool changing to the CORE One+, allowing it to switch between different colors, materials, or nozzle sizes during a single print with very little waste.
The first units will begin shipping very soon, and they are, of course, fully compatible with Gen 2.
And if you already have INDX Conversion Kit on order, don’t order the Gen 2 upgrade just yet. 😉 We’ll post a bigger update regarding INDX next week.
We are successfully running tests with INDX on the CORE One L, more updates about it will follow later.
Automatic filament calibration (Pressure Advance) before every print
Even two spools of the same material can behave slightly differently. We test, test, and test again, which is how we provide fine-tuned profiles not only for Prusament, but also for almost every major filament brand. Still, individual spools can vary.
And it turns out that simply tuning one Pressure Advance value is not the whole story either. Filament behaves differently depending on how fast it is flowing, so we are introducing a new model that adjusts for this instead of relying on one fixed value.
Before each print, the load cell will automatically measure the loaded filament and calibrate the two parameters the new model needs. The printer can then adjust extrusion more accurately as the flow changes during the print. We are also adding extrusion-aware acceleration limits, so the printer does not ask the extruder to change flow faster than it physically can.
The nice part is that you won’t have to think about any of this. Load the filament and print. We have been testing the system internally for a while, and we will release it once we are confident it works reliably with every filament we can get our hands on.
PrusaSlicer 3.0
PrusaSlicer 3.0 is the next generation of our open-source slicing software, rebuilt around the way people actually prepare and manage prints today. The first alpha version is coming within weeks, and it will be a major step forward for the software used to prepare every print.
PrusaSlicer is shared across our entire lineup, so this is not an improvement for any one new printer. Current and older machines will benefit from it as well.
The HT Hotend arrives in September
Our upcoming HT Hotend is designed for high-temperature engineering materials. It has taken longer than originally planned because we wanted it to work reliably with third-party filaments, not only under ideal conditions with a small selection of materials.
These filaments can be expensive, and some of them are brittle. If the material breaks in the feeding mechanism halfway through a long print, it does not matter how well the hotend reaches its target temperature.
We redesigned and retested the system with a much wider range of filaments rather than releasing it before it was ready.
The HT Hotend will be available for the CORE One L/+ and the CORE One / One+ / One+ (Gen2) in September.
Prusa Connect Local to replace PrusaLink
Remotely controlling your printer over the local network has always been possible with PrusaLink, but we want to make it so much better. Instead of slowly adding more to PrusaLink, we decided to build its successor from scratch, using what we have learned from Prusa Connect along the way.
Prusa Connect Local brings the modern Connect experience directly to your local network, with no cloud connection required. It is also being built as an open, extensible, multi-protocol system, so the community can add support for other integrations over time.
We are already quite far along and preparing early access now. The first round will be aimed mainly at more technical users comfortable testing and compiling the software themselves.
The whole lineup, upgraded
The XL+, CORE One L+, and CORE One+ (Gen 2) each have slightly different areas where they fit best, but they now share more of the same technology and the same refined experience.
Cleaner starts, better cooling, smoother surfaces, less waiting, and fewer small things that need your attention. Individually, these changes may sound straightforward. Together, they make the printers noticeably easier to use every day. Happy printing!
Interesting update. The mention of listening to Stefan of CNCKitchen and the mention of automatic pressure advance sounds like the strain gauge is finally going to be used for something other then just booping the build plate.
I'm looking forward to the new belts and the nozzle cleaner for my C1+. I am disappointed that the nozzle wiper seems to be married to the build plate, it would have been nice if the wiper didn't move during the print for periodic wiping when printing with sticky filaments like PETG.
Though most of the other changes for the C1+ sound like firmware tweaks so those should benefit all C1+ machines even if someone doesn't apply the C1+G2 (should be called G1.5 to mirror the belt sizes) hardware upgrade.
That Prusa Connect Local looks interesting. I wonder if it is targeted to running on the printer, or a separate computer running as a server. If on a separate computer, I would hope it supports multiple printers and can run on Win/Mac/Linux(+RPi). I probably won't be signing up to be a tester, but I look forward to hearing more news about it.
What about NFC spool readers? The OpenPrintTag has been pushed onto Prusament for a while now (with increased cost associated) but has little use prior to integration with the printers. Real bummer if the XL+ upgrade kit doesn’t include NFC spool readers and the lack of mention of it in this post would suggest that to be the case.

Shut up and take my money! I am very excited about the XL+ path.
Gosh this got me completely by surprise, and a good one!! Just to recap this massive news bombardment: the Core Ones and the XL get 1,5 mm belts and nozzle wipers, the XL gets a 360 cooling duct and the offset board from INDX. The XL will be able to get a chamber heater. The silicone head, the HT hotend, INDX and PS 3.0 are around the corner and Prusa Link will be replaced by a much sturdier Connect Local. Am I missing anything?
As for the future, I'd love to see some of this recent upgrades backported to the i3 line. Now the GT1.5 belts are the new Prusa Standard why not bring them back to the MK4S, which is still being sold, or the other MK models? And another feature the I'd LOVE to see on those is phase stepping. Both my XL and my C1 evolved from being annoyingly loud to ghost silent, leaving my provious MK4S and my MK3.5S as the loudest printers in my fleet. Is phase stepping possible on cartesian machines? If so, could at least the 32-bit i3 printers get such an upgrade at some point in the future and make them as silent as their younger siblings?

I think it's good that these improvements are being made. But I ordered my Core One L on the Wednesday before the announcement, and I don't think the one being delivered to me on Monday will be the "+" version. Why so sudden and without any prior notice?

Overall, I'm really excited about these updates and improvements, well done. Pressure advance using the existing load cell is great. Finally, 1.5 mm belts. I appreciate that Prusa seriously listens to critical feedback, such as:
1) "Entire Lineup" does not include the MK or Mini series, seems like that pathway is ending/abandoned.
2) The new XL enclose is still WILDLY overpriced, surely it can be designed and built for under $400? You can buy a whole Snapmaker U1 toolchanger for nearly the same price of the enclosure. 😵💫
3) Still no NFC tag reader? Why?

Quite sad that the other Prusa machines are being put aside with little to no upgrades since launch. Doesn't really sell me the trust of Prusa keeping printers (like the Prusa Mini) up-to-date and competitive not counting the firmware updates.
I own a Prusa Mini+ and it's still available to buy online but regarding the cost and the features Prusa offers up front, it's very outdated and really missing out on now pretty much must have features for a 500 Eur printer like optional AMS or proper sensors for reliable and fast input shaping.
An entry level Prusa machine with most of the best parts from a Core One+ in my opinion would be a killer for other competitors that lock users in a walled garden selling you a printer that you will never fully own. Like the SE version of the current best.
So there will be no upgrade for the old XL Enclosure? We have to spend another 700+ € just for better sealing. This is insane.

This article says the entire lineup upgraded. I disagree. I own a Mini+ and its been left out in the cold lately. What about us customers who love our Mini+ machines and would love to see upgrades to make them last longer and be better and more competitive with other brands with similar footprints? This is a misleading article to say the entire lineup is upgraded.
Really wish to have seen the Mini get some attention. It is/was a perfectly fine little printer that serves me well every day. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for a new Core+, but will there at least be some kind of replacement or upgrade paths for the Mini or should I just start hoarding parts for inevitable repairs before they aren't available anymore?
I hope the slicer update includes naming plates and a 9 plate limit is not good for large projects.

Regarding the addition of the nozzle wiper, I assume there will be a modification in the G-code to use it ? Will it still be possible to work as before, with the cleaning routine on the build plate ? Because personally, I use BIQU CryoGrip Frostbite 256×256 build plates and I'm worried this nozzle wiper might get in the way.
Hmm, nozzle cleaner at the front of the C1 bed if i see correctly, that would mean i cant use that area for extending the print bed anymore. I hope its an option to use new or old type nozzle cleaning..
So a few questions. Does the upgrade kit includes upgrading the current enclosure or to have an actual sealed enclosure we have to pay another 700E. Does this upgrade handles a probable future HT hotend or is just to much for your 5k printer?
If you have a Prusa XL and the Original Enclosure, and then upgrade the Prusa XL to the XL+… do you also need to upgrade the Original Enclosure as well? Or does the Prusa XL+ work with the Original Enclosure? Thanks.

This is what I've been waiting for, just a few little touches to keep up with the competition. But important question before I finally place my order, did you integrate the accelerometer from the Core One L+ into the Core One+, or do I still need to order one separately?
When I asked in the community live stream today, Tommy said that they don't have the same board unfortunately; the cost for the upgrade seems to reflect that as well. Still, I would ask livechat support on it to verify.
I agree, I'd love to have that option for my other C1+. I'm also wondering if the HT hotend up grade comes with a new board as well, which I didn't think about until this reply.

Well. I am glad they are finally doing something with the XL.. I've got 5k or more in this printer and its easily the worst in my fleet. It appears the XL+ will fix some of the issues. My question is going to be if Prusa decides to soak us on the upgrades. The XL really never delivered for what it cost candidly. Great idea, bad execution. Soured me on Prusa. Hopefully they make it affordable to fix the XL to an XL+ as well as fix the really shoddy original enclosure easily. If that isn't the case, that will end my Prusa relationship. Prusa do the right thing…
I am glad to see the XL finally getting any attention, but it feels a little sour that early adopters are basically paying to fix issues that should have been fixed before the XL was released. Lack of nozzle wiping and under-specced belts and cooling, especially when factoring in the dwarf upgrades is basically $700! That's a lot of cost for fixing what should have been there on early models. Those of us with older models should ideally get some discount if we have to replace dwarf boards in addition.

Will existing XL hot ends be usable with the XL+? E.g 2 classic and 3 upgraded or will all hot ends need replacing?

Multiple nozzle sizes in a single print on the XL is already possible. But it could use a bit more flushing out, as the layer height has to be consistent for the whole layer. But I can see how this could have unintended consequences if say you tried to use a .5mm layer height with a .15 layer height. Collisions could be a real problem.
Daaamn — and I sold both of my XL printers as I was feeling they were getting a bit old and were probably gonna get deprecated in favor of the CoreOne line…
If the XL enclosure wasn't so ugly and sketchy… AND MORE AFFORDABLE – I would've gladly stayed in that ecosystem. I tend to print large so the size helped a lot.
But I am wanting/needing enclosed printers with high temp capability as I'm looking more and more into advanced filaments.
If the XL had a proper enclosure plus HT hotends it'd be an insane printer. I thought in designing an enclosure myself but the time investment into unknowns is too much for me atm.
I got now a QidiMax4 that does 390x390x390 but it's been a bit flakey and definitely not as solid as a Prusa.
I do want to get a CoreOneL and now it seems even more appealing.
Not long after watching the update video from prusa this morning Aust time I reviewed an email from the supplier I'm buying my Core One L from in Australia to say it will now be a Core One L+ as prusa wants to ship the new gens . I currently have a MK3 my very first 3d printer then I got a MK4 in 2024 . I'm excited to print bigger with the Core One L+ and i'll add the indx when it's available .
I was hoping prusa would send out updates for orders placed recently as it has done on domd previous updates to the hardware.
A very impressive list of upgrades — but what about the fundamental reliability issue with the XL?
After reading the entire announcement, I have to ask a very important question: what has actually been done to solve the “Extruder motor not spinning on tool” error on the Prusa XL?
The XL is receiving a new cooling system, GT1.5 belts, tool offset sensor, high-flow nozzles, integrated nozzle wiper, enclosure improvements and many other upgrades. Prusa also talks extensively about listening to community feedback and making the printers more reliable and easier to use.
But if an XL can still stop in the middle of a print with “Extruder motor not spinning on tool”, what is the practical value of all these improvements?
This isn't a cosmetic issue or a minor inconvenience. On a large, multi-hour or multi-day print, an extruder motor failure that stops the job means the entire print can be lost. For a machine positioned as a professional, high-capability toolchanger costing thousands of euros, the ability to reliably complete a print should be the absolute foundation.
What is particularly frustrating is that there still doesn't appear to be a clear, concrete and definitive solution from Prusa for this error. Users are left troubleshooting motors, cables, connectors, dwarf boards, firmware, toolheads and other possible causes, without a clear root-cause fix that guarantees the problem will not return.
Prusa says:
“Our printers keep getting better over time.”
I completely agree with the philosophy — but the priority should be to make the existing XL reliably finish prints before adding another layer of features and upgrades.
The XL has enormous potential. The toolchanger concept is brilliant, the build volume is excellent, and when it works, it is an extremely capable machine. But reliability is not an optional feature.
So my question to Prusa is simple:
With the XL+ upgrade, what specifically has been changed to eliminate the “Extruder motor not spinning on tool” failure?
If the answer is “nothing specifically,” then I would strongly urge Prusa to make this a top priority.
A printer that produces a slightly better surface finish is nice. A printer that reliably completes a 30–50 hour print is essential.
Please address the fundamental reliability problem with the XL before asking existing owners to invest further in upgrading an already expensive machine.
Refreshed printers, that’s nice. But what about the MINI?
I have two of them, they are reliable workhorses but automatic Z-level adjustment (=load cell) and a nozzle wiper would make me very happy.
Nozzle wiper for Core One L is great, but why not unify it with nozzlewiper for INDX?
