The name’s Bond, Project Bond.
Bilgin has just unveiled the gorgeous gilded interiors of its new 269-foot flagship, which is inspired by James Bond himself. The striking superyacht, which is also the shipyard’s largest to date (eclipsing Tatiana and its other 263-footers), is just the latest 007-themed vessel created for American owner John Staluppi.
Inside, Project Bond would certainly make a fine lair for any Boon villain. Bilgin tapped the team at H2 Design to bring the interiors to life, creating a light-filled, Art Deco-inspired palace on the seas. That means you’ll find plenty of mirrored materials, rich fabrics, pops of gold, and sunburst of blue throughout the space. It all starts in the main saloon, with curved couches and chairs situated underneath an airy chandelier, as well as a large main bar with views out to the sea from nearly every angel. The area is also home to a massive open staircase that connects right down to the beach club.
The crème de la crème, though, may be the owner’s suite. The sprawling space has its own TV and sofa pair alongside a roomy bed, along with design touches like a twinkling mirror on the ceiling and a wavy carpet. The bathroom brings that rich blue into focus with its gilded vanity and various textures.; the same cabinet found there can also be spotted in the closet, next to a vanity and plenty of storage. Head either of the two VIP cabins, meanwhile, and you’ll still have plenty of room to unwind; one offers up a desk and a sofa along with striking design details like the motif behind the bed, and the other builds upon that blue hue seen throughout the superyacht. One of the guest cabins onboard continues that opulence at a smaller scale, with more mirrored features and a large window out to the ocean blue; and a sophisticated twin guest cabin rounds out the accommodations.
Last but not least comes the lower deck, which has its own cinema. Lights stretch in ribbons across the ceiling, complementing the rich variety of blue hues found everywhere from the walls to the carpet. The space also has six reclining sofas, all waiting for the owner to begin a Bond movie marathon.
“I’m definitely trying to create a grand rich style and a definite WOW factor,” Jonny Horsfield, founder and creative director of H2 Design, said in a press statement. “Unlike many yachts of this size today we are not following a new fashion or trend; instead we have created a timeless classic interior.”
If you can pry your eyes away from the interiors, the new superyacht also offers up plenty of grunt. Project Bond has an over 5,000-nautical-mile range and a top speed of 17.5 meters, thanks to the power of its MTU 16V 4000M73 engines. More details on what can be found onboard, like the exterior by Unique Yacht Design, will be revealed by Bilgin in due time—though from what we can see from phots, that includes two pools onboard and plenty of lounge space.
And Project Bond is joining quite the collection of spies—er, vessels—on the seas. Staluppi has many odes to 007 from varying shipyards out there, all named for films featuring Ian Fleming’s iconic character. Take Quantum of Solace, the 238-footer named for the 2008 Daniel Craig flick that, at the time, was one of just four yachts in the world to have a double-height atrium in the main salon, along with a 16-foot swimming pool. The idea of the vessels having gadgets and gizmos or reaching feats only Bond himself could achieve is certainly a trend: The 144-foot Octopussy could dart to a bonkers top speed of 61 mph, quite the accomplishment for a superyacht of that size, while For Your Eyes Only was the first motor yacht in the U.S. to have a combination of MTU engines with water-jet propulsion. And then there’s the 226-foot Spectre is home to a suave Paris-inspired interior, among many, many more superyachts.
No matter which way you slice it, Project Bond is in good company. Perhaps Staluppi is waiting for Amazon’s new 007 movie title to be announced before christening his new Benetti.
