About the Program
ICP and Hunter College have partnered to offer open-enrollment, non-credit photography courses for adult learners at all experience levels.
Course offerings span a range of interests and approaches, from walking classes through Central Park and photography history courses taught by curators and scholars to introductory classes for total beginners and critique courses for photographers looking to advance their portfolios.

Join Film Camera Basics for analog cameras, or How to Use Your Digital SLR or Mirrorless Camera for one-day practical workshops that will leave you well equipped to begin using your camera. If using your iPhone for photography is more of your style, then iPhone Photography 101 is for you.
Want to get outside with an active class?
Courses with outdoor components include the weekend workshop A Walk in the Park: A Photography Workshop in Central Park, and a five-day evening course Street Photography: Curiosity, Instinct, and Comfortable Shoes.
Interested in the stories behind famous photographs?
Two special courses this fall have been created just for ICP at Hunter and feature access to ICP’s world renowned collection. The two-part course From Sojourner Truth to Dorothea Lange: Women, Photography, and Social Change in the ICP Collection is led by senior ICP staff, and Looking Closely at Images from Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now discusses ICP’s major fall exhibition and includes a copy of the lavish exhibition publication and guess passes to the museum.

Are these courses open only to the Hunter College community?
No, ICP at Hunter courses are open to everyone 18 or older.
Do I get access to the main ICP location if I take a class at Hunter?
Yes, alongside your Hunter ID you will receive an ICP ID card giving you access to exhibitions and other public programs.
Are there any discounts on course fees?
There is a 10% discount on course fees for ICP Members and staff, Hunter College alumni, students and staff.
