Contract signed for construction of Adapazarı – Serdivan tramway
TURKEY: Infrastructure investment agency AYGM has awarded Makyol İnşaat a contract to build a tramway serving the twin cities of Adapazarı and Serdivan.
The 15.5 km double-track Y-shaped line with 19 stops will start at Sakarya Atatürk Stadyumu in the east and run to a junction west of Tuna Tan, from where one branch will run southwest to to Sakarya University, and the other northeast to Serdivan Spor Salonu.
There were 11 bids for the civil works and electromechanical systems contract, with Makyol submitting the winning bid of TL14.5bn.
The work will include the construction of 1 595 m of cut-and-cover tunnel with one escape tunnel, two bridges totalling 95 m to be constructed from prestressed precast concrete beams, a substation and a depot with a workshop and administrative centre.
The contractor will also be responsible for providing 24 months of maintenance services, producing operation and maintenance manuals and staff training.
A tender to provide design and engineering services work for the project was won by Tekfen Mühendislik in March 2025 with a bid of TL46m.
A tender for supervision and consulting services is expected to be called in August.
