Valenciaport handled 3.28 million TEUs in the first seven months of 2026, down 1.34 per cent year-on-year, as stronger import activity failed to offset weaker exports.
Container traffic in July reached 459,517 TEUs, compared with 509,685 TEUs in July 2025, representing a 9.84 per cent decline.
Between January and July, Spanish exports fell 1.34 per cent, while imports increased 10.33 per cent. Over the past 12 months, Valenciaport handled 5.61 million TEUs, up 0.16 per cent.
China remained Valenciaport’s largest international market, with 546,966 TEUs handled between January and July, an 18.39 per cent increase year-on-year. Chinese trade also accounted for 5.94 million tonnes, up 19.49 per cent.
The United States followed with 193,179 TEUs, down 16.22 per cent, while Algeria recorded 177,776 TEUs, a 5.27 per cent decline. Türkiye handled 112,110 TEUs, down 23.98 per cent, and Italy recorded 61,149 TEUs, down 19.73 per cent.

Brazil recorded the strongest growth among several expanding markets, with volumes rising 16.49 per cent to 83,124 TEUs.
Morocco and Egypt increased 9.18 per cent and 11.15 per cent, respectively.
By cargo weight, Italy remained the second-largest market at 3.66 million tonnes, despite a 13.20 per cent decline. The US followed with 3.35 million tonnes, down 7.09 per cent.
Vehicle traffic increased sharply, with 48,405 vehicles handled in July, 19.09 per cent more than in July 2025. Valenciaport handled 325,335 vehicles during the first seven months, up 10.68 per cent. Over the latest 12-month period, vehicle throughput reached 555,878 units, an increase of 6.21 per cent.
Rail traffic also recorded growth. Between January and July, 2.30 million tonnes were transported by rail, 19.31 per cent more than in the same period last year. Rail container traffic reached 172,328 TEUs by 31 July, representing a 17.97 per cent increase.
